About the practice
In this workshop we will begin by sharing and referencing writing that speaks to the body or is grounded in sensory experience. There will be an opportunity to reflect both individually and collectively.
For those who are curious about inviting the voice and body into their poetry practice. We will be thinking about rhythm, breath, sensation and tracking impulse in the body and the spoken word.
We will explore sensory experiencing, somatic centring techniques and active imagination practices, which can support us in accessing memory and poetic prose.
After having an embodied experience of these techniques, we will consider the therapeutic possibilities of poetry and spoken word performance as a social act.
